(i) The Company is one of the market leaders in Electrical & Mechanical Carbon Products, with interests in manufacturing of Carbon blocks of various grades.
(ii) It manufactures a complete range of Carbon brushes for Railways and Industrial uses. Its Railway Traction products include Pantograph, Current Collectors & SIG Contacts. Mechanical Carbon Division produces Carbon Seals, Bearings, Vanes, and Thrust Pads.
(iii) The finishing unit near Hyderbad is equipped with the latest state-of-the-art machines to offer customers products as per their specific requirements.
(iv) Speciality Graphite Division of the Company offers solutions of the Diamond Tool industry, Optical fiber manufacturing, Hard metal sintering, and Electronic industry.
(v) The Company also manufactures various kinds of Graphite products Viz., Hi-Temp Insulator, Fuel Cells, Heating Elements, Casting Dyes, Lubricating Blocks, and other such items as per the need of the Customers. Aegis – the world’s most effective shaft grounding brush is also provided by the Company

About the cash flow statement of Assam carbon products limited for the year ended 31st march 2022-2023
Operating Activities: Profit before tax increased from 2022 to 2023.Depreciation and amortization remained relatively stable. Finance costs decreased significantly. Interest income decreased. Dividend payments increased slightly. Provisions and liabilities no longer required written back increased. Loss on sale/discard of fixed asset and reinstatement of investment increased. Capital subsidy received in 2022 only. Overall, operating cash flow before working capital changes decreased.
Working Capital Changes: Trade receivables, loans, and advances decreased in 2023, whereas inventories decreased in 2022 but increased substantially in 2023.Trade payables, provisions, and other liabilities increased significantly in 2023 compared to 2022.Overall, working capital changes contributed negatively to operating cash flow in 2023.
Net Cash Provided by Operating Activities: Despite the decrease in operating cash flow before working capital changes, the net cash provided by operating activities decreased even more due to higher direct taxes paid in 2023 compared to 2022.
Investing Activities: Purchase of fixed assets decreased in 2023.Deferred government grant received only in 2023.Proceeds from disposal of fixed assets occurred in 2022.Investment in mutual funds decreased significantly in 2023, and there was no sale of mutual funds in 2023.Maturity in term deposit with a bank decreased in 2023.Interest received remained stable. Overall, net cash used in investing activities decreased in 2023 compared to 2022.
Financing Activities: Borrowings decreased significantly in 2023.Finance costs paid decreased in 2023.Overall, net cash used in financing activities decreased in 2023 compared to 2022.
Net Increase in Cash and Cash Equivalents: There was a positive net increase in cash and cash equivalents in 2023 compared to a negative net increase in 2022.
